The discipline policy at Evangel Child Care is very simple. The teachers help the children know that they are unique and special in God’s eyes. Rules are few and simple so the child can understand and be able to comply with them. All children are taught the importance of making good choices. Discipline is constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate and intended to resolve conflicts. If a child has a problem the staff talks with the child to help him understand or to explain why there is a problem and tries to redirect the child to a constructive activity. A short “time out” is used for some discipline problems.
If there is a recurring problem, a conference with the parents and staff will be necessary to work out steps of action to solve the problem. Discipline does not include corporal punishment or physical restraints. The center will NOT WITHHOLD food, nap or toilet privileges as a discipline method.
